Groesbeck Volunteer Fire Department
Pat Samuels - Fire Chief
Chief Samuels has been a member of the Groesbeck Volunteer Fire Department since June 6, 2001.  He served as a firefighter, Lieutenant, Assistant Chief and Deputy Chief before becoming Fire Chief in 2012.  He attended TEEX Annual Fire School 10 of the 12 years he has been with the department, and has received training in the areas of Firefighting II & III, Rope Rescue, Trench Rescue, Agriculture Rescue, Officer Development II & III, Fire Investigation, Public Fire Education, and Public Information Officer.  Chief Samuels is a member of the Texas Fire Chief’s Association.

Additionally, Chief Samuels is the Project Director for a national non-profit organization called Stars of Hope.  This organization conducts community art projects with communities affected by disasters, to meet their emotional needs as a form of long-term recovery.  Greensburg, KS, Galveston, TX, Mena, AR, Fort Hood, TX, Joplin, MO,  Tuscaloosa, AL, New York, NY, Newtown, CT, are just some of the places Stars of Hope has had projects.

Chief Samuels, a native Texan, graduated from Teague High School and Sam Houston State University, receiving his B.A.A.S in 2000.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Radio Operator from 1984 to 1989.  He and his wife, Misty Deanna, have one son and three daughters.
