Press Release -
7/24/05
Fourteen Groesbeck Groesbeck Volunteer Fire
Department members are attending the Annual Municipal Fire Training
School at Texas A&M University this week, participating in
training in fire suppression, rescue, officer development,
curriculum development and delivery, and fire prevention
activities. This attendance is made possible through grants
from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection
and the Texas Forest Service as well as monetary
assistance from Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, Limestone County
Fire Fighters and Emergency Services Association, and the City of
Groesbeck. Attending this year are Deputy Chief Walt
McKeever; Captains Joey Harris and Jerry Sullivan; Lieutenants
Patrick Samuels, James Vincent, Brad Holligan, and Mike Bell;
Treasurer Misty Robinson; Secretary Beth Gibson; and Fire
Fighters Jason Spradling, Elisa Spradling, Jason Vincent,
Misty Vincent, and Steven Robinson.
Attendance at the
Annual Municipal Fire School allows the Groesbeck Volunteer
Fire Department to accumulate points in the Insurance Services
Office (ISO) rating scale, which is used to determine insurance
rates for businesses and homes coverd by rated companies.
This enhancement is used to lower the rates paid by owners and
residents in the City of Groesbeck and in Limestone County areas
covered by the fire department. Attendance of the individuals
is also made possible by businesses and organizations
that allow their employees time off to attend. The Department
especially thanks those individuals and companies for their
continued support.
