Street Department
History - The City of Groesbeck street department has seen many changes over the past 90 years. The brick streets in the downtown area were constructed sometime in the 1920’s by the federal worker program. These streets are still in relatively good condition and are still in use. Most of the streets back in the 1920’s were not paved. The majority of them were just plain dirt or made of old brick bats that were discarded from the old brick factory located on N. Grayson St. many years ago.
Today – The City public works crews currently maintain about 50 miles of streets inside the city limits of Groesbeck. The City’s street maintenance program today is very active and continues to up-grade streets city-wide to maintain their integrity. One of the City’s main goals is to pave all City owned streets that have never seen serious capital improvements in the past.
